Any possibility of "attach by name"?

Sam Large created the topic: Any possibility of "attach by name"?
Title pretty self explanatory. Sometimes we'll get models from clients that have objects on the wrong layer, with no materials but all have the same name (with all but the numbers on the end different)

Being able to attach these objects based on their name (whilst excluding x number of characters from the end) would be extremely helpful :)

Hi Sam,

Thanks for your message.

The best approach might be to open the IgNite Springboard and use the Select and Rename functions.
Ie By Name.

Once selected use the IgNite Sculpt, Attach Objects.

Alternatively, if you know a little MAXScript you can use create your own script using the above SiNi functons to create your own tool.

Hi Sam,

There are a few ways to do this.

1 - Search by name with springboard and when you have selected, just use the attach button in Sculpt.

2 - Use SiNiScript to make your own functions using maxscript and our c++ functions. At the end of this video shows you how to make a attach by name tool!
